Wiccan is Anglo-Saxon. It comes originally from the Anglo-Saxon word "Wic" meaning "to bend or shape". People who had the power to Bend or Shape were called Wicca or Wicce.. Wise Man or Wise Woman. Many of the traditions of Wicca are taken from Masonry and little of the ancient ritual remains.

Not all Witches are Wicca. Keep in mind: a "witch" does not necessarily mean a person who belongs to a coven or abides to the Wiccan Rede. Some 'witches' are soloists. They are merely observe their wisdom, magic and inter-relationship with nature.
